There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
